WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH £25,000?

Updating the BRIGHTWALTON PARISH PLAN means we could apply for up to c.£25,000 in grants over the next 5 years.

The first Parish Plan issued in 2004 helped us to receive grants of £15,000, which helped us to buy:

• New equipment in the play area
• An all weather surface cricket strip
• New benches in the play area
• Kit for young rugby players
• Bus shelter for school children
• Nursery School storage shed

DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA ON HOW TO IMPROVE BRIGHTWALTON?

Option 1: Visit the Parish Plan stand at the Christmas Fayre
Saturday 28th November 2009 - 2.00 - 4.00 p.m.
Brightwalton Village Hall

Option 2: Contact Jackie Boxall on 01488 638393 or jb@home.3b.co.uk with
your ideas and suggestions:

What are the best features of Brightwalton and how you suggest we can retain/improve them?
The problems with Brightwalton - what would you like to change and
how? Other suggestions or feedback?
And would you be willing to help address some of these areas?

Broadband drop outs at Chaddleworth exchange.

Is anyone in Brightwalton and surrounding villages getting broadband drop outs, slow speeds or no broadband at all on some occasions?
We must all complain to our own ISP's to get this resolved, its terrible, we are paying for it and getting a useless service!

I have put it on the 'Newsflash' on the home page of our Brightwalton site, comments to that post would be welcome.

BT Accelerator now FREE

Get the BT accelerator free, (used to be £15), the I-Plate fits over your normal socket.
How does the BT Broadband Accelerator work?
Telephone extension wiring around your home can pick up interference, affecting your broadband service. The accelerator filters out this interference, which can give you a faster more reliable service. You pay only £1-20 for postage, (goes on your BT bill)
Google search for = BT accelerator..

Reading Relay for Life 2009

I have been asked to put this up on our website:
We would like to invite you to an inspirational and unforgettable fundraising event at the Reading Rugby Club on 20th-21st June 2009; the first Reading RELAY for Life 2009. This fantastic event celebrates the lives of those touched by cancer and raises money to support the life saving work of Cancer Research UK. This non-athletic event sees teams of colleagues, friends family, and neighbours walk around a track for 24 hours. Each team tries to keep at least one member on the track at all times, whilst all around them the party is in full swing with camping throughout the night. Throughout the day and into the evening a wide variety of entertainment will be provided including: cheerleaders, dove releases, Fireman's band, Berkshire Youth Orchestra, Rosemary Connelly fitness club, bands, singers, BBQs, balloon races, fancy dress, magician, stall holders, DJs and birds of prey demonstrations and much more to be confirmed!!
It is never too late to ENTER NOW!! But, if you can't do this then please come down to Reading Rugby Club from 12 noon Saturday 20th June to 12 noon Sunday 21st June 2009 to lend some support to this community event. With lots to entertain people of all ages there will be something for everyone!
On a serious note, Cancer Research UK relies heavily on fundraising activities such as these to keep up its vital work for everyone in the community. However small the donation it will go towards helping Cancer Research UK to allow the important work to continue.
More information can be found at:
http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/relay/venues/reading/
Thanks and kind regards
Rachael Fordham.

Wantage in The Daily Mail

Wantage was in the Daily Mail.
I wonder if anybody saw this article in the Daily Mail, its a bit exaggerated, what do you think?

Local teenagers mull around the bus stop bench for want of anything better to do.... it's always been their meeting point, so nothing new there! One said he can't get work in a pub or wine bar cos they've all closed down! Which ones have closed?
New Sainsburys moved to the 'outskirts of town' what 100 yards from the High street?

Update on weather..Another delivery of salt for West Berkshire.

Amid the severe weather conditions currently affecting the region, the primary road network in West Berkshire will continue to be gritted Monday and Tuesday, following the delivery of more salt-grit from national suppliers.

Gritting of the primary network took place early Saturday evening, and there will another run overnight tonight, and a further run on Monday and Tuesday. Following the success of obtaining more salt yesterday, despite the national shortage, Council highways officers are working round the clock to find additional stocks from any possible source.

Meanwhile, met office weather forecasts predict a slight thaw today, but sleet later on and zero temperatures again come midnight. This means there is the likelihood of black ice on the district's roads, and drivers are urged to take extreme caution.

Further information will be issued as soon as it is available.
